Rei laughed, turning back around and running with him

He kept running til they were out into the freezing wind. She still had his jacket. "I cannot believe she said that!" He laughed.

Rei giggled, stopping next to him "Neither can I!"

"You little piece of sh*t!" He mimicked her voice, falling over laughing again. He mimicked her voice perfectly and with ease.

She stared, grinning "How'd you even mimic her that good?"

"Its a gift." He shrugged, not wanting to talk about it.

"Okay." She shrugged, not about to make him talk about it

He shrugged again and took her hand, walking, feeling stares in the back of his head. He knew without looking they were the same jocks from earlier.

(*wonders if they should make a scene*)

This time Rei glanced at them, frowning slightly

The jocks, checking Rei out and being noisy about it, came up and surrounded them. Kei stopped, nostrils flaring, eyes moving but nothing else. He didn't seem okay.

Rei stood slightly behind Kei, obviously uncomfortable and slightly nervous

"Hey ba-aby whys youz wit this loser!" One of them, the leader and obviously drunk, tried to grab Rei as his other friends shoved at Kei, who breathed, trying very hard not to retaliate.

"H-he isn't a loser" She took a step back, not wanting him to touch her

The jock grabbed her and at that, Kei stopped trying to stay normal, or act it. He just went into full-out attack mode, which was pretty awesome. He slashed out with his hand, punching the jock's elbow, on the outer side, and at the same time bringing his foot up and slamming it into his knee, hearing the cracks from both, meaning both were broken. Yelling and tears running down his face, he dropped Rei and fell, yelling. For a moment, everyone just stared, then attacked, jumping on Kei.

Rei stared, falling to the ground and landing on her butt when they dropped her. She watched, wishing she could do something to stop it, but she couldn't. She was a pathatic excuse of a vampire and a horried mind mage.

They tried punching Kei, but the warrior that his grandfather had programmed in him kicked in, dodging and making all of them fall to his training. After the fight, which didn't seem to be much of one, all the boys were either dead, or about to be, all punched and bloodied and bruised. Kei just stood there, breathing hard and swallowing, not having been touched. He didn't look at Rei.

Rei moved away from one of them, still staring at Kei

"Sorry." He winced, knowing how bad that had looked. He really couldn't control it. Killer's instinct, that's what it was called.

She was silent for a long time, thinking. She hated to feel this way, but she was happy he had done that "D-don't be.." She finally spoke

"Its not." He shoved his hands in his pockets and walked off, feeling really bad now, especially for doing that in front of her.

After a few minutes she slowly got up, following him

His mind was full of memories best left forgotten, the torture, beatings, intense training and pain at the hands of Kaderlyn, things he never thought about in front of Muse or told his family, or anyone.

"Kei?" She asked, considering reading his mind if he didn't respond

He didn't, feeling like he was eight and being hit again for doing it wrong.

She sighed, starting to read his mind
