Nessa rarely came to the library with the intention of reading, if at all. She had all the books she'd ever be interested in, and she preferred the outdoors when it came to do anything relaxing. But the quiet of the library was a welcome change from the noise of students coming and going during their daily routines throughout the rest of the school, and so she found herself perched on a windowsill, watching the students in the room with a blank expression.

Silas whistled, setting some books back. He was in a pretty decent mood, although he had to keep checking his ring was there. It was making him pretty nervous While he wouldn't turn to ash, like in the stories, he'd get a nasty sunburn, which he didn't want and thankfully, the ring stopped that.
He glanced up at a figure in the windowsill, and gave a nod. "How goes it?" he asked, giving her a toothy grin, as he set the last of his books back.

Nessa studied the unfamiliar boy before her before she even bothered to think up a reply. He seemed innocent enough, though she wasn't about to let her guard down that easily. She smiled back at him, her grin overly-sweet and ingenuine."It goes... well." Her smile vanished as quickly as it had come, and she raised an eyebrow at him, leaping down from the windowsill with practiced grace. "And you are?"

"That's good. And it's Silas. Yers?" he asked, smiling as he watched her land gracefully. Impressive for a human. He pushed that thought aside, for all intents and purposes, he was human too. He put his hands in his pockets, and leaned against the bookshelf, looking her up and down. She seemed nice, but smelt a little... off.

"My name?" She widened her eyes in a look of faux innocence, and tilted her head to the side, pretending to be thinking about how to respond. "I go by the name of Nessa, usually." She smirked, and tossed her red hair over her shoulder. The odd time that she did give her name, she'd make it clear that it was not the only name she gave out, and it could just as easily be a fake one as a real one. A little bit of doubt and mystery when it came to her identity never hurt anyone, and it made her feel safer. "What brings you to the library?"

"Oh right, well I'll call ye Nessa, unless ye change yer mind." Silas said, smiling. He found it an odd thing for her to say, but then again it seemed like everyone around here had secrets, himself included. "I was just actually returning some books, they're a lot more useful than what I have a'home." he admitted, not realising there would be so many books on plants here. It was rather exciting.

"I'll be sure to let you know if I ever do," she replied. When it came to secrets, Nessa was full of them, and she rarely ever told anyone about them, but she also knew that there was not a student at this school that did not carry a secret of their own, and she wondered what this boy's secret was. "And why did you address me?" This was something she was genuinely curious about. Not often did a stranger approach her, and when they did, she usually assumed that they wanted something.

Silas nodded, rolling his head around. He looked up and smiled, a little more devious than before. "I was simply curious. Why would ye choose t'sit up there, when there are many decent seats around...?" he pointed out, tilting his head. He knew exactly why he'd sit up there, his instincts told him it was an excellent vantage point to spot prey from. But he kept his instincts hidden. It would not do to drain a wizard.

She followed his eyes up to the window and, widening her eyes once again to give herself a look of childlike innocence, she shrugged. "Because I enjoy heights, of course." A half-lie. She liked heights, but she liked to be aware of what was going on around her at all times more, and though she mainly depending off of her strong hearing to do so, she would also watch when she could. "I hope you weren't looking for too interesting of an answer."

"I 'spose s'an answer, af'er all." he said, nodding. He glanced at the window one last time before focusing back on her face. "S'nice to be up high, everythin' looks so different." He smiled at her again, before looking away. "What's yer magic? Everyone round 'ere seems to have somethin' interestin'." he grinned.

She met his eyes and tilted her chin upwards in an almost defiant gesture. "So many questions," she replied, intending on avoiding the question altogether. She could have just told the same lie she'd been telling everyone that needed to know since she'd arrived: "Earth magic, but I can't say I'm very good at it yet." but she felt no real reason to answer his question at all, with a lie or the truth. She liked being secretive. "What if I refuse to answer?"

"Curious, yanno? Want ta find out more about ye!" Silas grinned. He watched her think, and thought himself as she answered. "Well, if you refused t'answer, I'd be cool with it. Ya've got secrets, and I don't actually care that much. But, I'd also find it a bit weird, ya know? I mean, what am I going to actually do with that information? Sell it?" he laughed, shaking his head. "But yeah, s'up ta ye." he shrugged, doubting his ramblings would have much effect on her answer, it looked like she'd already made up her mind.

"Trust me on this, I'm not the sort of person you want to know much about. That always ends up with either me in trouble, or you." She raised an eyebrow, betraying both her surprise and amusement when it came to his response, though her expression remained otherwise blank, as always. "I see you're not of the pushy type. People don't tend to appreciate secrets being so obviously kept from them. And if I were honest with you with my abilities, you most likely could sell such information to people, though once again, that would certainly find me in trouble. Or you." She was silent for a long moment, allowing him to think about that for a moment, and then she spoke again. "Earth." Lying came easily to her and she rarely showed any signs of it. This time was no exception.

The vampire shrugged. "I'm fine wi'that, try t'avoid trouble myself. Normally I'm pretty decent at gettin' out o' it." he chuckled, shaking his head as if he were reminiscing old times. He smiled a little to himself, watching her facial expression change. The fact that she'd temporarily let some sort of feeling show...it pleased him.
"I wouldn't call myself pushy, nah. Secrets? Couldn't feckin' care less. If I want ta find out, I'll find out in due course." he shrugged. Like her smell. It wasn't exactly that of a typical witch, but he wasn't going to run to the shelves of books surrounding them seeking answers. He'd probably find out eventually.
Silas laughed. "I wouldn't sell ye out, not for coppers at least." he said, wondering how reassuring that sounded. Probably not very. He let out a whistle of approval, giving her a big grin. "Yer a confident liar, ain't ye? I woulda believed ye if it hadn't been for your whole mysterious thing before. Like ye said, if ye told me yet abilities I could sell 'em. Earth doesn't sound like somethan' I could sell." he said, pausing for thought. "But I don't care. Just don't lie ta me. I'd rather ye lied by exclusion, ta me. Yanno?" he asked, moving to sit on a table.

"Lying is all about the confidence, isn't it?" She tilted her head to the side in a look of childish innocence that was soon ruined by a smirk crossing her features. "If you can make yourself believe what you're saying, you can convince anyone." She stuffed her hands in the pockets of her jacket and turned away from him to study the books on the shelf closest to her. She wasn't really much of a reader -- preferring to read plays over novels any day -- and so when none of the books caught her interest, she turned away. "Oh, I'm sure that if you wanted, you could find something about Earth magic that you could sell. Isn't it possible to specialize in something within your area of magic? Perhaps I can do something with Earth magic that not many other people can." She turned to look at him again, and raised an eyebrow as though challenging him to question her further.
Truthfully she knew very little about magic and whether what she just said was true or not was far beyond her.

Silas smiled. "Exactly..." he said, nodding. "O' course. An' if ye have a clipboard and a fancy lookin' coat, it helps." he chuckled, shaking his head. He watched her, leaning against the bookshelves himself. She was an enigma wrapped in mystery that was for sure. Or at least, she liked to keep it that way. He was pretty sure, however, that he could get through her suspicious barrier. Maybe even make a friend...
"I s'pose, if ye do specialise. But at the same time, I really don't care. Not that earth magic is unimportant or anythin', I think sellin' ye out would be a lot o' work..." he said, feeling his throat begin to get a little itchy.

"Oh, I'm sure it would be." She tossed her red hair over her shoulder and took a step away from the bookshelf, raising an eyebrow in his direction. "Enough about me though, I'm not that interesting. What's your magic?" She asked not only to get the conversation off of her own magical abilities -- or lack thereof -- but also because she was curious. She liked knowing as much as she possibly could about those around her, especially one's who showed an interest in her. To hide the inevitable look of curiosity that her eyes would betray, she again looked to the book shelf and absently slipped a silver bracelet she was wearing off her wrist to toss back and forth.

Silas laughed. "Wish I could tell ye, don't actually know meself. I started showin' signs o' magic, like movin' stuff without actually touchin' it, lights flickerin' when things got a bit heated. Little things. Me parents got pretty excited, an' shipped me off here." he said with a shrug.
In all honesty, he wasn't sure if he had any magic. Vampires generally didn't have any magic, especially if they were 'pure-blood'. Normally it was sorcerers who got turned, so if he did have any tangible magic, this would be quite exciting. Not really for him, because he didn't really need magic. He was pretty strong already, and having magic would give him an unfair advantage. Provided he had any, of course.
