Conan

Conan had wanted to go somewhere he wouldn't run into anyone, but the closest he could get was the mostly deserted forest. He was hungry and really didn't want to hurt anyone

A voice came from a tree just above Conan, where Nessa was perched on a tree branch. She leaned forward to stare down at him and raised an eyebrow. "Hm, not a common place to spend time, is it?" she called down.

Hearing the voice, Conan looked up. His skin was even paler than normal, his eyes sunken and his usually blue eyes had a slight red tint to them "Go away."

"I'd rather not, now that I'm curious as to what you're doing out here?" she asked, not really concerned about his appearance. She was pretty sure that she'd be able to defend herself if he were to try anything.

"Why bother staying, it's not as if you'll find out why" He wouldn't attack her, at least not willingly. In fact, he'd probably try not to

"I've got nothing else to do. Besides, perhaps I will find out. I have my ways." She smiled sweetly and moved so that her feet were dangling off of the branch she was lounging on, just above Conan's head.

"Trust me, you won't." He glared for a minute, taking a step back

"I'm getting the feeling that you have no faith in my abilities," Nessa said with faux surprise.

"Have you ever," he ignored her comment "Stopped to think it's a good idea to leave when someone tells you to?"

"I've considered it, yes, but I prefer to do things on my own terms. Besides," she grabbed the tree branch tightly in her hands and swung down, landing gracefully on the ground, "I'm perfectly capable of defending myself when the need arises."

"There's nothing for you to defend against, I was just wondering." He took another step back, wrinkling his nose slightly. He didn't like the smell of her blood and, at the very least, that helped with not attacking her

"I never said there was, I was only explaining why I don't always leave when someone tells me too." She raised an eyebrow at his expression and leaned up against a tree with her arms crossed.

"You should reconsider listening just this once, it's for the best"

Nessa shrugged. "I'm perfectly content right here. Perhaps if you want to be away from me so desperately, you should be the one to go elsewhere, as I'm not moving."

"I would if I could, but it seems I'm stuck here for a while"

"And why's that?" Nessa asked the question in an absent tone of voice, as though she weren't really listening.

"It's simply better if I stay here"

"It's a big forest, and you have to stay in this exact spot?"

"There's something I need to do"

"And what's that?" Nessa pretended to absently examine her nails.

"You really think I'll tell you?"

"I suspected you wouldn't, but I figured it was worth an attempt at least." Nessa shrugged. "However, I'm not going anywhere, and if you have to do whatever you must right in this spot, you may as well tell me. After all, I'll find out eventually."

"You'd only find out if I did happen to leave."

"And is that likely to happen?"

"No."
