Daray followed Minette as she walked into a store, not very much interested in whatever his companion was doing. Apparently it was some sort of book store, which didn't particularly make this any better. Not only did they apparently have to deal with the kind of people he practically despised, Minette planned on doing business with them. He was sure that would only further the time they would have to be there. Stuffing his hands into the pockets of the long coat he wore, he glanced outside at the snow covered ground and let Minette go about doing whatever she planned on doing. He just hoped she wouldn't take too long.

As he waited, many different people came into the store and left. Some tried to speak to him and most were ignored. Once in a while he'd actually stop being an ass for a minute and reply, but would quickly send them away. He was incredibly unwilling to deal with these people and since he had not been directly told to do so by Minette or their boss, he wasn't going to. Instead he pushed his way back outside to wait for Minette there instead, hoping people would be less likely to bother him if he did

Ruby strolled slowly down the snow-laden streets of...well, whatever the name of this quaint little town was. Backwater? Yes, she believed that's what it was. Either way, she liked it. A nice change of pace from the bigger, bustling towns she had resided in. She had moved into a cabin in the forest very near the town, and had decided to look around as she knew she'd be buying things for herself and her home here quite a bit for the next few months--or years, if she doesn't have to move again. Ruby really hopes she doesn't have to move again.

Her hood up, she looked down at a old, grimy map of the general area in the town and around it in her hands. A chilling wing blows past and rips it right out of her hands, blowing strongly up and down the street. "Wait, no! Get back here!" she cries uselessly, running down the street for it. It is soon out of sight in the dark trees and she accepts defeat, lowering her head and going to sit under the canopy of a nearby bookstore to hopefully collect her bearings.

Daray was still waiting for Minette to finish when he heard someone yelling frantically at something or someone. Looking up in slight interest, he saw a girl running down the street like an idiot. From what he could tell he was chasing a piece of paper, which made him doubt her intelligence further. He pretty much assumed everyone other than Minette and himself were idiots anyways, so she really wasn't doing herself any favours. About to turn his attention back to watching the people scurrying up and down the street, he noted that now the girl was standing nearby.

Apparently she had realized how foolhardy and pointless it was to chase paper. He was shocked, but his face would make one think otherwise. It was as if he didn't feel anything about anything going on around him, his face completely void of emotion. And that was good. It was better if people didn't know how he felt, usually when people were able to tell what he felt it pissed them off which never ended well. It was also better if the girl didn't speak to him and he simply hoped she wouldn't

Too bad. "'Scuse me," she attempted to grab his attention, plastering on her best Southern belle-like accent to make her fit better into the scenery around her. Ruby was excellent at masking herself to fit in better. "You know what street this is?" She gave him a soft smile in contrast to the darkly neutral look he carried about him. She'd dealt with people like this in the past, and enjoyed being as kind and sociable as possible to them to be a pest at times. It was a fun change of pace to how obedient she usually had to be. The snow had stuck to her hair and taken to her eyelashes quiet well, as well as the nape of her neck, which made her shiver slightly as she stood there hugging her arms.

Really, it made sense she had to talk to her. He was beginning to wonder if Minette was taking such a long time on purpose just so these people could bother him. He looked over at her when she requested his attention, planning on just ignoring her if she got to be too pushy. "No, I have no idea where we are.." He said simply, voice as emotionless as everything else about him. In all honesty, he couldn't fathom why she was smiling. She had just gone running down the street like a simpleton, what in the world could possibly making her happy? After a minute he decided it was simply an attempt to irritate him, which he assumed was what most people were trying to do.

To be annoying, yes, but also because she enjoyed being kind to others as well. Not many times you had the chance to be in her line of work, you know. Ruby simply nodded, turning to look into the window of the bookstore. No way was she going in--way too many people inside. Like, at least five. No can do. Instead, she strained her back and her eyes to see if she could spot another map that she could take. Hopefully complimentary, but if she had to steal it, she would. Ruby had no money on her just then. Slip in, take it, get out. Simple plan. If only she could actually find a map. With her luck, they were up against the opposite wall.

Thankfully, the girl turned her attention away from him around the same time Minette started for the exit. Both of Daray's grievances were hopefully going to be gone and over soon enough. He simply looked away from Ruby and watched the snow falling again and started making plans to practice his power on her if he could. It would be something especially dark and he would do the same to many of the people that had annoyed him even a tiny bit that day. He really, really wasn't a nice person at all

They were on the other wall. Dammit. Ruby sighed, turning back around and crossing her arms over her chest. She slid down the window until she sat on the cool dirt in front of the bookstore, where the snow had not gotten. "Might as well head back," she muttered to herself and went to stand, when a eerie howl sounded throughout the town from somewhere nearby. Ruby stood in her half-way-up crouching position, looking up and around in alert. For god's sake, monsters attacking this town? She had gotten there yesterday for crying out loud. Can't catch a fucking break.

Hearing howling, Daray looked up immediately. The feeling he felt wasn't fear or sadness that someone might get hurt, it was excitement. Now certain that this was why they were in the town, Daray let emotion shine through it stoic facade as he smirked. He was sure Minette must of marked someone for death and death was sure about to deliver, meaning that he actually got to enjoy a show. He had no idea how was wrong, of course. How was he supposed to know that Minette would be just as surprised as he was

Ruby shot a disapproving look at the boy's smirk, clicked her tongue, and sprinted off down the road to see how far in the monsters could be. Oh, shit. They were already here. Black, wolf-like creatures with glowing pure white eyes stalked their way down the street like panthers. Ruby began to back away slowly, sizing up the horde as houses and a few shops' doors were locked and windows were shut. She reached behind her and pulled out a black and red sort of pole, that was attached to a holster on her back and hidden by her cloak. It was thick and seemed to be folded up on itself. She held it by her side as she continued backwards as the monsters approached, awaiting for them all to be in a group together. Hey, more in a group=less effort, more carcasses.

The look she gave him didn't help anything, he was going to go watch the mass destruction that the creatures would cause. Maybe feed a person or two to them. About to go find a comfortable seat to watch from, he was only stopped by Minette suddenly bounding out of the store to ask what was going on. She didn't know? That... was bad. For starters, it meant if someone did get attacked by one of the monsters, they wouldn't die. Even if the wounds were so bad it meant that they should, they would suffer until Minette marked them for death.. which she wouldn't do unless it was next on the list and it likely wasn't.

Well you see, that's because they aren't normal monsters. Ruby likes to call them Nones. They didn't go by the rules Death had laid out. They kill who they want and mess up timelines. Minette is a Reaper; she marks people for death who die. Easy. Ruby is like her counterpart; she is an Undertaker. She keeps Nones from killing before they should and clean up the aftermath if they do before she can defeat them. Undertaker jobs vary a bit, but this is the usual one and she is one of the best in her business, despite looking like a delicate woman.
Ruby pressed a button on the side of her pole, and it began to fold out and switch around until it turned into a big scythe, a few inches taller than Ruby's height of 5'5".

Minette had begun to demand that Daray do something about it, she had no idea of Ruby's presence yet. Unsurprisingly, Daray refused and instead continued to run off to watch. After a bit of climbing, he found himself sitting high enough above the scene so he could watch without being in any danger at all. Minette, on the other hand, wasn't excited about this at all. If this went too badly she could get in some serious trouble.

Ruby smirked. This was all? Thirty? Wow. This'd be way too easy.
She pointed the end of the scythe downward and pulled up, causing a gun at the end of it to shoot with incredible force, pushing her up into the air. She shed her cloak mid-flight and came back down with the blade on the head of a monster, slicing it off. The monster, instead of bleeding, evaporated. Another monster ran towards her and she brought the blade too its neck, keeping it away. Another monster came up behind it to help (you see how intelligent these things were not) and Ruby pulled again, twisting the blade around to go around the first monster's neck. The shot killed the monster trying to help, while the force sliced off the head of the first.

While Daray would've preferred the death to be of humans or at least involve more blood, he found this to be enjoyable as well and full out grinned as he watched. His eyes went wide in excitement, giving him a truly insane look and that was because.. well, he was in fact insane and misery was his favorite past time. How he wished he could be a reaper instead of a weaver, but alas that wasn't his destiny. At least he could kill people in their dreams, that was fun enough.

"You having fun up there, mate?" Ruby called up to the boy she knew was up on the roof, as she had seen him climb up there during her time in the air. Her mixture of French and English accent shined through; she only spoke like this because she had spent quite a long time in those two countries in Europe. She was never really a fan of sadists, and therefore the phrase came off a through gritted teeth. Ruby span elegantly around and sliced off three more heads, before firing again to fly up and turn, landing behind the monsters at the edge of the street--and the town. Flipping the scythe around and burying the blade into the snow, she pulled a long line of bullets out of the pouch at her hip and quickly reloaded before blasting the figurative brains out of the last of them.

Daray laughed again, eyes practically sparkling as Ruby killed the creatures. Now that he was enjoying himself, he was more than willing to speak a few words to her and gave her a simple reply "Very much! You put on a wonderful show" He spoke of the killing he had just witnessed as if he had simply been watching a musical or an opera, something silly that didn't really have any real consequences

With a jump and twist Ruby turned the scythe around again, pulling the pole to trigger another big shot, racing through the air towards the last few creatures and pulling her weapon around in acrobatic spins to chop them all in half. When she was finished, she landed on the snow with one of those classic crouching, one hand down to keep her balance poses, and rose slowly to make sure she did fall over from her current state of dizziness from the twists.

With what seemed to be the fight ending, Daray made his way back down, his smile slowly fading until it was completely gone as he stepped down on the street. He looked around at the lack of bodies before pouting and turning his attention to Ruby, too disapointed in the lack of gore to go back to being stoic. "Isn't there a way for you people to leave a little bit of blood?" He asked, clearly wishing she at least had an ounce of blood on her hands

Ruby sighed and rolled her eyes, walking down the street to where the fight had began to collect her cloak, scythe folding back up in her hands and returning it to the holster. When she picked it up and began walking back over, she zig-zagged a bit, seeming to be avoiding something. "Really? Really? You wanna see some blood?" she asked of him, wrathfully and sarcastically. "Here, here's you're damn blood." Leaning over as she walked and dipping her hand down into what seemed like nothing, it turns out when she walked up to him and showed him her hand it had a reddish, gooey liquid running down her fingertips. The corpses of Nones don't evaporate as they appear to; simply turn invisible upon impact. Their bodies would fade into nothingness in due time, though.

Daray watched as Ruby dipped her fingers into nothing, raising his eyebrows as she continued walking. It wasn't until Ruby started waving her hand in her face did he realize that her fingers were covered in blood. The sight was enough to bring his crazed expression back and give him the idea that he should go running around and trying to find them so he could get some blood off all of them. Maybe he could find a way to collect it. That'd be nice, though it's best not to wonder what in the world he'd even do with it. "Where are the bodies?" The way he spoke made it clear he was considering playing with the blood

Ruby drew a large breath through her nose, eyes shut. She slowly counted to ten in her head to keep from yelling or snapping about how fucked up that was. She spun around and pointed to the nearest one, at her feet, to get him started. Turning back around, she went to walk into the bookshop to soothe the occupants--whom got a front row seat to what she had done--by removing the memory of it from them. She smeared the blood across Daray's chest and shoulder as she walked past him to get it off.

The act of smearing the blood on him seemed to only please him more, eyes shining in excitement. He probably would've done or said something about it, something quite excited and slightly disturbing, but he was too excited at the prospect that there was a dead body so close. More than willing to believe that she wouldn't lie about it, he practically skipped in excitement and dropped to his knees to start feeling for the precious blood
